The Last Day On Earth represents the culmination of my concept illustration work at college. The body of work includes six paintings; a figurine; and an animated, interactive menu outlining the project, with four original pieces of music.

The initial goal with this project was to create concept work for a postmodern, post-apocalyptic animated feature that I've always dreamt of producing. The narrative focuses around a girl named Dog, enslaved by quasi-neo-Nazi rock band Kabuki Red. She idolizes world famous doo-wop punk band the Lovelles, and escapes to pursue her dream of meeting them. Along the way, she befriends gypsy punks Muñecarosa; the band's robotic one-armed drummer, Captain Beefheart-13; his pal the King of the Owls; and a host of other characters.

During the project's development, I realized that what I really had was a vast, confusing potpourri of ideas. As a result, the project changed course to become an investigation in boiling down all of my ideas and influences into a comprehensible narrative. In the end, it was neither a fully fleshed story, nor exactly the treatise on postmodern art for which I had hoped; but the ideas are all there, and I plan someday to clean it up and sort it all out.

Displayed here are the six paintings.
