This interactive media project focused on the application of an abstract navigational system (shown below). The goals of the project were threefold: to accurately maintain the logic of the diagram; to present the information in the diagram in an appealing audiovisual environment, while maintaining an abstract aesthetic built from original resources; and to ensure that the user is able to interact with the program intuitively, but easily relate it to the initial diagram.

The Musical Navigation project was compiled from acrylic paintings on mylar, as well as selections I recorded of myself playing a broken guitar through the same cheap microphone.

To relate this diagram to the Musical Navigation project, consider the "X" state to be the default program state following the opening animation. Geographically, the "A" states correspond to the three large diagonal bars; the "B" states are comprised by the triangular panel at top left; and the "C" states relate to the three-triangle panel at lower right.

Oh, and it's also fun. Most of the music consists of variations in the same key, so you can sort of play it like a (clumsy) instrument.
